The “Students Reading Books on Counseling” activity held in PM SHRI KV Dappar’s library encouraged students to engage deeply with literature related to mental health, self-awareness, and personal development. By providing a curated collection of counseling books — covering themes like emotional intelligence, stress management, decision-making, peer pressure, and guidance for life skills — the librarian created a safe and supportive space for learners to reflect, learn, and grow.
Students were asked to select and read books from this collection during regular library periods as well as special reading sessions. As they explored these titles, they not only absorbed valuable information but also discovered practical strategies to cope with academic and personal challenges. After reading, students were encouraged to discuss their insights, take notes, and reflect on how the content related to their own lives. Some even wrote short reflections or shared what they learned in small group discussions.
This initiative helped demystify the idea of counseling and mental wellness by making resources accessible and approachable. Rather than treating counseling as something distant or unapproachable, the library made it a part of everyday learning. Overall, the activity empowered students with the tools to understand themselves better, make informed decisions, and develop resilience — all through the power of reading.
