Book talk activity under Reading campaign - phase 1

Here is a 250-word detailed and impressive description of the Book Talk Activity:

The Book Talk Activity conducted under the Reading Promotion Programme at PM SHRI KV Dappar Library is a vibrant and engaging initiative aimed at nurturing a strong reading culture among students. This activity gives learners a platform to share their experiences, interpretations, and favourite moments from the books they read. By doing so, it transforms reading from an individual habit into a collaborative and interactive learning experience.

During each session, a student presents a book of their choice and speaks about its storyline, major characters, themes, and the message they derived from it. They also share why they selected the book, what fascinated them the most, and how the book impacted their thinking. Such reflections help students develop deeper comprehension while enhancing their ability to analyse literature meaningfully.

The librarian plays an important role by guiding students on how to present their Book Talks effectively—maintaining clarity, confidence, and coherence. After the presentation, fellow students are encouraged to ask questions, express opinions, or even discuss similar books they have read. This peer interaction further enriches the experience by promoting critical thinking, listening skills, and respectful communication.

The activity also helps students overcome stage fright and boosts their public speaking abilities. By explaining books to their classmates, they learn the art of summarising, evaluating, and expressing ideas creatively. Moreover, Book Talks inspire others to explore new genres and expand their reading horizons.

Overall, the Book Talk Activity turns the library into a lively hub of ideas and imagination, fostering confident readers and thoughtful communicators. It is a powerful step toward creating lifelong readers enriched with curiosity, insight, and a love for literature.
